Primary PE and Sport Premium
In 2013 the Government announced that it was to provide additional funding of £150 million per annum for each of the academic years 2013-2014, 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 to improve the provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools in England. This funding was to be known as The Primary PE & Sport Premium.
This funding – provided jointly by the Department for Education (DfE), the Department of Health and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport – is allocated directly to primary headteachers. The funding is ring fenced and therefore can only be spent on the provision of PE and sport in schools. In the academic year 2015-2016, the Premium had to be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport for the benefit of primary-aged pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active life styles. School had the freedom to choose how it spent the funding.
The allocations for the funding for the school year 2015-2016 were calculated using the number of pupils in Years 1 to 6 as recorded in the January 2014 School Census. Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils received £8,000 plus £5 per eligible pupil.
The allocation for the funding for the school year 2015-2016 for our school was £9,710. The premium was paid in two instalments, the first on 29th October 2015 and the second on 29th April 2016.
The allocation for the funding in the school year 2016-2017 is £9,690 and the premium will be paid in two instalments, the first on 29th October 2016 and the second on 27th April 2017.

This report includes details of the amount of Primary PE and Sport Premium the school is allocated, how the funding was spent in 2015-2016 and the impact our school saw on pupils’ participation and attainment in PE and Sport as a result in order to help to ensure that all our pupils develop healthy, active lifestyles.
In 2016-2017 our Primary PE and Sport Premium funding is being spent in very similar ways to that of 2015-2016 with the continued focus on ensuring that any improvements are sustainable. An updated report for parents and carers will be published by 4th April 2017.
